Just put SS onto my new machine and now, every time I run it, I get the message "java.io.filenotfoundexception: .\data.properties (The system cannot find the file specified)."

I am running Windows 8.1 x64 and using Version 7 Update 45 of Java. I've tried running both the exe and the .jar, running as admin and running in compatability mode, in case it didn't have the right permissions to see the files or some such. The version of SS I am trying to run was downloaded today and is listed as "(Current release : Oct/26/13)".

Hope this helps find an end to my problems.

Please try to create an empty file "data.properties" in the same folder than "sexscripts.exe"

That solved it. I feel like that's one of those things that just SHOULDN'T have worked. Thanks. Now if you'll excuse me...

K. i'm really not a computer guy at all. when you say create a new file.....how do I do that?

Just an empty text file will be ok.
With Windows, you launch notepad, and you save a file name data.properties. Select "any file" to be sure it does not append .txt at the end.

I have this issue too, but can't seem to create a blank file called data.properties.
I am using a mac and no matter what I do, it always adds .txt or .pages to the end of it. Can someone attached the data.properties file for me so I can just download it, or suggest how I can do this on OSX?

Nevermind, I figured it out!
For OSX users, open TextEdit and go to properties. Click the "plain text" bubble, then go to the "Open and Save" tab and uncheck "add .txt extension to plain text files". Then, create a new document and you can save it however you want!

I'm having trouble running it on my mac. I tried creating the empty text file for data.properties and I'm still getting the error window that shows up with it, saying that the file is not found. I've moved it all over the folder, into the smaller folders, nothing works.

I'm not really a computer guy, but I really would like some help with this. I'm getting really frustrated, due to the hours I have spent trying to make this work.

Put the .properties file next the sexscripts.jar file. Then try the command file here (put it at the same place, and click).
